Synetic Theater provides educational programs to area schools, offering performances as well as workshops and residencies from our Pantomime for Youth program.
Through Young Audiences of Maryland, students are introduced to the classic theatrical art from of Pantomime. Dating back to ancient Greece, students learn a differnt form of storytelling and communication through our three-five day residencies. The approach is often used in school play projects and opens the doors of the students' imagination, helping them to express themselves, establish body awareness and discipline. These elements develop the students in a way not always available to students in school programs.
Through our programming with Arts for Every Student established by DC Collaborative, students in the DC area are given the opportunity to see our main stage and pantomime shows for free. Following our pantomime performances, students and audiences are invited in a mini workship in fun pantomime technique.
Area audiences have enjoyed our shows for free, most notably frou our performances at The Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, Wolf Trap's Theater-in-the-Woods, and The National Theater's Saturday Matinee series.
