Laura Blackwelder, Director of Development

Laura Blackwelder joined Synetic Theater as Director of Development in May 2011. She worked in Development at the Smithsonian American Art Museum for nine years prior to Synetic. During her tenure at the Museum, Laura managed the annual benefit ARTrageous, the membership program, and database operations. She contributed to many successful fundraising initiatives including a capital campaign and exhibition sponsorships.

Laura graduated from Duke University with a degree in Public Policy Studies and a minor in Art History. She serves as a Board Member for Duke University’s Young Alumni Development Council. Laura is a member of the Junior League of Washington where she volunteers as Chair for the Horton’s Kids Committee. She is an avid world traveler.
