Synetic Theater takes on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Victorian tale of good and evil, adding its signature physicality and darkly dramatic aesthetic. Updating the story’s setting from 19th century London to modern-day America, Synetic’s version puts a new spin on the strange case of the charming and sociable Dr. Jekyll and his sinister friend, accused murderer Mr. Hyde. This production continues Synetic’s long-standing love affair with the gothic and macabre, as seen in past productions of "Faust," "Frankenstein," "Dracula," and "Fall of the House of Usher."

Synetic Theater is proud to host one of the Washington, DC area’s most inventive directors, Natsu Onoda Power, to direct our season’s wintertime offering. Her previous work includes the acclaimed Studio Theatre production, "Astro Boy and the God of Comics", which she brought to life last spring with on-stage drawing, flashy projections and through-the-roof energy. "A Trip to the Moon" follows the over-the-top adventures of six astronauts sent to the moon by way of a cannon. On the moon’s surface they embark on a haywire adventure, awakened by a moon goddess and pitted against a throng of insect-like “Selenites”. Based on the groundbreaking 1902 silent film by Georges Méliès.

With The Tempest, Synetic presents the ninth installment in its renowned “Silent Shakespeare” series. Expect big things with this production: stunning set design complete with a water extravaganza, larger-than-life visuals, acrobatics and the remarkably visceral experience Synetic is known for. No stranger to dynamic water-drenched sets – 2010’s" King Arthur" production famously featured a stage submerged under 3 inches of water – Synetic continues its tradition of bold, visually exhilarating set design and inspired choreography in this stormy island drama.
"The Three Musketeers"
Directed by Paata Tsikurishvili; Choreographed by Irina Tsikurishvili

It’s “all for one, one for all” in Synetic Theater’s boisterous, swashbuckling production of "The Three Musketeers." Expect high energy and excitement as D’Artagnan’s journey to become a musketeer readily bounds to life on Synetic’s stage with plenty of romance, intrigue, and animated duels crafted from the imagination of Synetic’s resident fight choreographer, Ben Cunis.
