Outreach
Synetic offers traveling shows to schools, embassies and private events. All three shows were created by Paata and Irina Tsikurishvili during the last ten years, and have been featured at The National Theatre, The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, and local festivals in Bethesda. Each show is developed through classical pantomime style and combined with innovative illusions and storylines. Performances in Maryland can be booked through Young Audiences of Maryland. A performance is followed by a 10—15 minute workshop.
To book a show for your school, please contact Synetic’s Education Assistant at education@synetictheater.org.
The Magical Balloon
The Magical Balloon is a series of delightful pantomime sketches with music, ballet, clowning, and audience participation. Expressed through body and facial masks, pantomime illusions, and unique choreography, Magical Balloon tells a wonderful story of a traveling actor and his magical trunk of tricks and toys.
The Music Box
The Music Box is a wonderful collection of physical comedy short stories set to music that you might find in a child’s music box. A mischievous mask that clings to two unsuspexting men on the street, two cowboys in the wild west taming a bill on the loose, road workers trying to catch a butterfly in an attempt to capture the heart of a girl, and the classic invisible wall all come to stunning and hiarlous life in this delightful theatrical romp.
Cowardly Christopher Finds His Courage
Poor Christopher is anything but courageous, but that all changes when he embarks on a world-wide adventure to find his courage! Synetic Family returns to its roots with its newest comedic, musical pantomime journey, which first premiered at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts.
Residencies
Synetic’s LITarts residency goes into Title I schools in Arlington county and brings underserved children literacy education through the arts. Via an introduction to theatrical production and technique, children develop their literacy skills through games, exercises, memorization, and the production of an original piece.
Synetic is also developing residency programs for schools, possible topics include Shakespeare, Physical Theater, and Adapting Classics.
